This Privacy Policy explains what information SmartCampusBuddy ("we", "us") collects when you use our resume builder at smartcampusbuddy.com (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed version of your password (we never store your password in plain text). If you sign in with a linked account method, we receive the basic profile information that method shares with us.

Resume content

Anything you enter into the resume builder - work experience, education, skills, summaries, and your chosen template and design settings - is stored in our database so you can return to and edit it later. This content is yours; we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train third-party models.

Payment information

Paid plans (Pro Pass, Student Pro, Student Yearly) are processed by Razorpay, our payment gateway partner. We do not receive or store your full card number, UPI PIN, or netbanking credentials - those are handled entirely by Razorpay's secure checkout. We store only the subscription/order identifiers, plan selected, amount, and payment status needed to activate and manage your access.

Cookies and local storage

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in (an authentication token) and browser local storage to keep your in-progress resume and session state responsive between visits. These are functional, not tracking, cookies. See our Cookie Policy for full details.

Usage and log data

Like most web services, our servers automatically log basic technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) for security, rate-limiting abusive requests, and diagnosing issues.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and maintain your account and resumes
• To process payments and manage your subscription/entitlement
• To send account-related emails (verification, password resets, billing confirmations)
• To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or security issues
• To improve the reliability and features of the Service

3. Advertising and Third-Party Services

We work with service providers to operate the Service, including our database and hosting infrastructure and Razorpay for payments. The Service may also display advertising served by third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who need it to operate the Service on our behalf (e.g. hosting, payment processing), or when required by law.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and resume data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data and resumes within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain payment records for legal or accounting purposes.

6. Your Rights

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for students and job seekers generally aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
